There are three advantages a cord pull can offer over a metal pull: the cord pull can extend the range of a metal zipper, it can wrap around the zipper and mitigate the jingle of the metal pull (you won't get as much of that \"I'm being followed by a golden retriever\" sound with cord pulls) and it can make the zipper easier to grab and use. This can be a significant difference with a bag like the Aeronaut, which has numerous zippers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe also offer the option of buying extra Cord Zipper Pulls in various colors to use with—or instead of—the standard included Black or Coyote pulls.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are three choices when it comes to the zipper pulls: The first option is a set of 8 pre-cut 5¾-inch cords with a 1-inch plastic pull tab assembly. The second option is a set of pre-cut 8-inch long cords only (great if you prefer a knot to a plastic pull). The last option is a 5-yard length of cord you can cut to any length you choose.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOn clipping the metal zipper pull tabs:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClipping the metal zipper pull tabs from the sliders and replacing them with cord pulls is even quieter than simply wrapping the cord around the metal pull tabs. It's important to make sure you've decided you never want metal zipper pulls again before you cut them off. First of all, you can't put them back on. Second, if the metal zipper pulls are cut off, that part of the bag is no longer covered under our Lifetime Guarantee, which means that you won't be able to have the zipper replaced because you want the metal pulls back (the rest of the bag is still covered by our guarantee). Third, if the metal pulls have been removed from a bag, we cannot accept the bag back for exchange or refund. Another disadvantage of removing the metal pulls altogether arises if you want to use a luggage lock: unless the sliders have locking rings through which you can thread your lock, you'll need to lock the cords together, which isn't as secure as locking metal pulls. First, we designed optional, removable Internal Frames that specifically fit (and retrofit) into the Aeronaut 30 and Aeronaut 45. There's also a new optional, removable Padded Hip Belt, which you can use together or separately with the Internal Frame (the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.tombihn.mom\/products\/aeronaut-padded-hip-belt\"\u003eAeronaut Padded Hip Belt\u003c\/a\u003e is available for purchase separately over here).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBoth the Internal Frame and Padded Hip Belt are designed to add comfort and structure to the experience of carrying a more heavily-packed Aeronaut in backpack mode while waiting in long lines (well, let's hope not) at the airport or choosing to make a long trek across town to one's hotel on foot. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Internal Frames are made of die-cut 0.055” \/ 1.4mm thick High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), with a nylon webbing sleeve sewn down the center that encases a 1” \/ 25mm wide 6061 aluminum stay. We’ve pre-bent the stay to a generic spinal curve; if you'd like, you can re-bend and\/or adjust the curvature to best fit your own back (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/80286623\"\u003esee here\u003c\/a\u003e for video instructions demonstrating how to do this with the Guide's Pack frames; the same method applies to the Aeronaut frames).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo achieve the full benefit of using the Aeronaut 30 or 45 Internal Frame to shift some of the weight of the pack onto your hips, you may want to pair it with the Aeronaut Padded Hip Belt. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you just want a frame sheet, the stay is removable, though it's worth noting that a frame sheet sans aluminum stay does just about nada when it comes to shifting the weight of the pack onto one's hips. It feels stable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt feels more stable than a webbing or elastic band sewn to the back of the bag because it’s holding the center of gravity of your bag and all of its stuff against the rolling luggage handle.
